Boobs & Balls Run 2012

In August 2011 a large group of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over Ireland, and farther afield, gathered at Athlone to begin a motorcycle road trip that took 270 KM to complete and raised over €23,000 for the Solas Centre, South Eastern Cancer Foundation.

In July 2012, we’re doing it again!

The Event
On Saturday morning, July 21st 2012 the Boobs and Balls 2012 Road Trip will convene at Crookstown Service Station, Exit 3 off the M9. The road trip will commence at 12 noon and proceed from Crookstown Service Station and rejoin the M9 at Exit 3. From here it is a straight run along the M9 to Exit 12 where we will enter Waterford City (please ensure to observe the instructions from the marshals and Traffic Corps at this time). It is expected that the rally will reach our final destination at John Roberts Square in the heart of Waterford City where The Waterford Motorcycle Festival & Custom Bike Show will be in progress until 5.30pm.

Secure overnight parking will be provided in Jenkins Lane car park for all participants who wish to stay overnight and join in the Festivities and Band trail which will continue until the early morning in Waterford’s top bars and Night Clubs.

The Save Our Boobs and Balls 2012 Facebook page and web site will update participants on details of events including celebrities who will be joining us, band appearances, spot prizes, auction items, raffle items as well as ongoing news and features relating to the road trip.

We need your support
The Solas Centre is the finest cancer support building in the South East and the biking community of Ireland can be proud in the knowledge that this is partially due to their support and generosity through the Boobs and Balls road trip in 2011. Without them, the Solas Centre would not be there.

The Solas Centre provides the best possible cancer support services to the people of the South East of Ireland. With the counseling, relaxation therapies and group support services the Solas Centre endeavors to provide cancer patients, their families and carers with a safe place; a place to talk things over, to relax and express emotions.

Boobs and Balls 2012 needs to raise much needed funds to ensure that the staff and volunteers at the Solas Centre can continue to perform their outstanding work, without the obstacles of financial restraints, and we need your support.

For Her
There are approximately 2,500 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in Ireland every year, making it the most common invasive cancer for Irish women. Breast cancer will affect one in every twelve women in Ireland today.

For Him
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 18-35 years. The number of men diagnosed with testicular cancer has grown by approximately 34% over the past decade.

For All of Us
The Solas Centre improves and expands the service that the South Eastern Cancer Foundation (SECF) provides. This includes counselling, group support and relaxation therapies for cancer patients, their families and carers at their drop-in centre in Waterford. This work is also supported through outreach programmes throughout the South East counties of Kilkenny, South Tipperary, Carlow and Wexford.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Boobs and Balls 2012 event and to your positive contribution to the ongoing efforts of the Solas Centre.
