The following is a brief summary of some of the work undertaken within
the Campaigns portfolio in recent weeks. Background to any of the
topics mentioned can be found by referring to previous issues of
MAGlink and on the website www.magireland.org . For further
information or if you have any comments or questions you can contact
the MAG Office at office@magireland.org or telephone 01 4530797 (MAG
Office).

1. BIKE INSURANCE SURVEY - MAG is busy collating the results of the
Bike Insurance Survey - if anyone hasn't yet filled out a survey
sheet, please go to the MAG website and do so! The survey can be found
at http://www.magireland.org/Insurancepoll2006.htm.

2. Dublin Secure Bike Parking - We are writing to all the public car
parks around the City of Dublin to ascertain their attitude to bike
parking in their car parks - more in due course.

4. The Proposed Luas Extension is currently at the public planning
stage - we are surveying the routes with a view to making a submission
ato the public hearing that will be held in due course.

5. The Bikers Bible (March Issue 2006) is now available from the MAG
office - €9 or €9.50 posted.

6. Linda O'Loideoin, MAG's Treasurer, recently went to Brussels (at
her own expense!) to attend the annual MEP's rideout. Unfortunately
none of the Irish MEPs bothered to turn up although all were invited.
However she did meet the Swedish representative on the European Agenda
for Motorcycle Safety. We will be following this up with a letter to
all the Irish MEPs.

7. A new South Dublin MAG group is getting off the ground to
facilitate motorcyclists living in the area - run by Board member
Peter Bartlett, it meets at the Grange Pub, Deansgrange on the 3rd
Tuesday of each month at 8.00pm - feel free to come along and meet
fellow bikers from the area. Call him at 086 8229470.

8. A draft version of the new Rules of the Road have been posted on
the Department of Transport Website. It can be found at
http://www.transport.ie/ Any comments by interested members will be
welcomed!

9. MAG is a member of FEMA the Federation of European Motorcyclists
Associations who advance the cause of motorcycling at a European
level. To see what they are doing on your behalf, have a look at
http://www.fema.kaalium.com/

10. Bikers are Voters. In advance of next year's general election (if
not sooner!) we will be preparing a new "Bikers are Voters" leaflet
setting out the main areas of change which we want the next Government
to consider.

2. NATIONAL MOTORCYCLING EVENTS CALENDAR, 2006
MAG Ireland encourages event organisers to support motorcycling by
offering a discount of one euro to holders of current MAG membership
cards at their events in 2006. If you know of any events or want to
publicise your own forthcoming event, send details to
office@magireland.org or directly to maglink@magireland.org and we'll
put it on the website and also include it in next month's MAGLink.

Thanks also to Aggie for information from the Bikers Bible. If any of
you are involved in clubs running rallies this year, let us know -
